ABOUT THE ARTIST
Born in Montreal, Natalie Gadoua still lives and works in the metropolis.
After studies in scenarisation at the Université du Québec
à Montréal, she directs herself instead towards photograhy
and completes her formation at the Dawson College. Her artistic
process was born from the frustation towards people who cannot see
the beauty of everyday details. Her images re-create a specific
space in time. Through her choice of colors and depths, Natalie
Gadoua acheives in communicating us emotions like she felt them
at the moment she took the picture. The spectator is immediately
plunged into this same atmosphere. She knows how to capture and
immortalize a feeling, an impression. Her strenght is to be able
to open the eyes of people on the simplicity and beauty of certain
situations...
PRESENTED WORK
CYCLE. SLIDESHOW, QUEBEC, 2004
On the road, under the rain... A road-trip
through the seasons and their diverse precipitations is proposed
to us by the artist. She opens up the door and invites us to embark
on an adventure where we will discover the simple beauty of the
collision between water and the surface of things. On this path,
the artist inserts images that plunges us in comforting scenes of
everyday life (relaxing in a chalet, swimming with friends,...).
In short, an open narration that leaves place to imagination and
interpretation. This course through the study of textures of buildings
under the rain ends at the Craig pumping station. The strong architectural
lines like the ones of the Jacques-Cartier bridge and the highway
Ville-Marie interact in an interesting way with the ones of the
19th century patrimonial building. This interaction is furthermore
interesting under the natural hold of water.
