The video clip was directed by the sound and audiovisual
artist Jorge Castro. It is based on a musical piece
from the CD extra u_2003 by the composer, sound and
audiovisual artist Jorge Haro. In this work the authors
use an audiovisual form to translate some of Haro's
compositional preoccupations expressed in u_2003.
The underlying process of the work consists of a microscopic
approximation of sound materials, the transformation
of sound into image and temporality as an essential
dimension for the organization of the sonic horizon.

Secuencia 17 plays with a series of landscapes that
waver diffusely between abstraction and material reality.
The colour and minimal form and the very slow time
induce a contemplation that is proper to abstraction
and the pictorial.
At a precise moment, one suddenly moves to a state
of maximal tension and a rupture that displays its
extreme materiality and intimacy in nature as it expands
its sound, and then quickly returns to abstraction.

AUGUSTO
ZANELA
PICTURE IN PICTURE
2003, Argentine
Born in Buenos Aires in 1976. An architect by training,
he also took courses and attended seminars in photography,
drawing and aesthetics. He is the director of the
photography workshop of the Architecture, Drawing
and Urban Studies department. His production focuses
on the optical processes of image formation (projection
-reflection - refraction) in their application to
photography, video and installations. He received
various awards and has put on several individual exhibitions.
Among group exhibitions his work has received particular
distinction at the Vertigo en Malba and the El final
des Eclipse at the Telefónica Foundation (Madrid).
An urban action. An image is refracted through the
use of a magnifying glass on a small screen, displaying
an inverted view of the street that generates and
leads to a multiplicity of sensations. The scene unfolds
on a sloped avenue. The camera is aligned along the
inclined plane of the floor. In this way the rotation
of the framed scene represents a strange relation
between the architectural elements, the urban structures
and the displacement of the passerby on the inclined
slope.
